play the lowco rush way
Lowco Rush coaches should have an understanding of the clubs philosophy and playing style. Once we have a clear understanding of what we are trying to build as coaches and as a club, we can begin to determine how to construct a programme that effectively develops our players. Every coaching decision should be guided by a clear purpose, ensuring that the experiences provided to players contribute to their long-term growth and development rather than simply meeting short-term objectives.
Our syllabus (curriculum) is the structured and intentional body of work through which a coach or club delivers its development programme. It provides a framework that outlines what players will learn, how they will learn it, and when key concepts and experiences will be introduced throughout their development journey. The syllabus is essentially the programme we want our players to be exposed to, and it must be deliberately designed to support the outcomes we are seeking to achieve. Its structure should reflect the club's philosophy, playing style, and long-term vision for player development.
To be effective, a coach's syllabus should align with the needs of the team, the club, the learning environment, and, most importantly, the players themselves. It should account for the developmental stage of the players, their current capabilities, and the demands they are likely to face as they progress. This ensures that learning experiences are both relevant and challenging, creating opportunities for players to continually improve.
At its best, the syllabus serves as a structured methodology that layers learning over time. Rather than treating sessions as isolated events, it connects them into a coherent developmental pathway where knowledge, skills, and understanding are built progressively. Players are repeatedly exposed to key concepts in different contexts, allowing learning to deepen and become more transferable to game situations.
This means that each session is intentionally linked to those that come before and after it. Daily practices contribute to weekly objectives, weekly objectives support monthly themes, and monthly themes align with broader seasonal and long-term development goals. Such an approach creates continuity and purpose throughout the programme, helping players understand not only what they are learning but also why they are learning it. Through connected, intentional, and progressive experiences, players are better prepared to perform within the team's way of working and to meet the future demands of the game.
